Is this the Gong Show of American presidencies or what. A lot of us on the right thought Barack Obama was an evil genius when he fast talked his way into the White House back in 2008. Turns out he is just another globetrotting golf junky slow on math.
This will come as no surprise to President Valerie Jarrett, of course.
The Germans had all of this figured out two years ago, which lends credence to the myth that Europeans are smarter than Americans. The problem with that theory is Adolf Hitler, Vladimir Lenin and François Mitterrand, among others, but that’s another topic for another time.
The one constant in the Obama presidency have been his media: the press turned on Jimmy Carter and even, to some degree, on Bill Clinton, when their administrations hit the rocks; Jimmy with his idiotic Three Martini Lunch (never get between a New York Times reporter and his booze) and Malaise speech, and Bill with Monica-gate.
But with Obama one has to believe the sycophants will be skittering behind when he keels over at the Nineteenth Hole at 103. Yes, some have wised up—he has used them like a sailor uses a fast woman on a slow night, but many will stay the course.
It has been rough sledding this week for flacks like MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, though. Obama’s European twofer has turned out just short of abysmal, something even the molting Peacock Network’s flacker-in-chief found hard to ignore.
MSNBC’s number one Obama fanboy, Chris Matthews, was obviously disappointed with President Obama’s letdown of a speech in Germany Tuesday. Rather than place the blame where it belonged — on the empty rhetoric, hypocritical platitudes, and a crowd 95% smaller than the one Obama captured in ’08 as a presidential candidate — Matthews blamed it on the sun blotting out Obama’s teleprompter [Video]
“I think a lot of the problem he had today was the late afternoon sun in Berlin ruined his use of the teleprompter and so his usual dramatic windup was ruined,” Matthews said immediately after the speech. “I think he was really struggling with the text there.”
Yes, Chris, there was that, and the fact that a Hootie & the Blowfish reunion could have drawn a bigger crowd.
