The GOP Choice? It Ain’t You, Bubba

Wrong Finger?

Wrong Finger?

It should be apparent to anyone who is or has been a Republican in the last 20 years that the GOP is making a choice. Clearly they are going with the Teddy Kennedy smile, when it comes to immigration reform… Never mind that when Teddy smiled people occasionally died or got raped.

One would think the mere thought of  Kennedy smiling down… well, more than likely, up at them, would send chills down any Republican’s spine. But not so Senate RINOs.

Senators in favor of Marco Rubio’s amnesty bill are quick to point to polls showing most Americans want immigration reform, but any idiot with indoor plumbing knows that the generalities they cite don’t begin to reflect the public’s true opinion on the issue.

Voters want reform AFTER border security.

And Rubio-Schumer, regardless of the current spin, does not secure the border first, or, with a closer inspection, hardly at all, something 83 percent of American voters insist upon. The current meme being: Some will always get through. Translation: Who gives a rip?

So what choice is the GOP making?

Why, the choice between what The Daily Caller’s Matt Lewis calls ‘downscale whites’ and ‘cosmopolitan conservatives’, that’s what choice.

Will the GOP have to choose between working-class whites — and upscale whites and Hispanics? [Be insulted more here]

Downscale whites? Upscale whites?

This is just a shot in the dark, you understand, but the former would probably be you and me. Guys who cross our legs at the ankle rather than the knee. Gals who’ll take a Bud over a sauvignon blanc any day. Or not, but that’s the way RINOs see conservatives.

The real outrage in all of this, of course, is that GOP Senators like Bob Corker, John ‘Wacko Bird’ McCain, Rubio and members of the permanent political class like Jeb Bush think we are too dumb to see the point spread.

In fact, the only thing I can think of more insulting, is being tied down and forced to listen to Mike Huckabee and the Little Rockers.

Breitbart via Drudge

Just as public anxiety about the weak border security provisions in the Senate immigration bill was building, GOP Sen. Bob Corker stepped forward with an amendment to “fix” the problem. The result of his efforts, however, has been a “Christmas tree” measure, covering items far beyond border security. Breitbart News has learned exclusively that one provision of Corker’s amendment will allow workers who stay in the country past their visa will remain on the “path to citizenship.

Even in the future, breaking the law won’t stop progress on what VP Joe Biden calls the “unfettered path” to citizenship. [Read more]

So the cosmopolitan conservatives Lewis speaks of? That includes Latinos who don’t vote in numbers anywhere near white conservatives, right? Just checking.

And they think conservatives won’t remember this when first- and second-generation Latinos choose the EBT over the GOP?

Two words: Mitt Romney
