In fact, the mouse in the room that sets so many Americans to jumping onto chairs and screaming “Eeeeeekk, Republicans are destroying us!” every time someone like Harry Reid drones (Harry has but two settings: DRONE and DRONE AD NAUSEAM) “Look, there is a mouse in the room!” isn’t a mouse at all.
The mouse is just the windup toy Harry and other Democrats have been using for 50 years, to scare stupid Republicans into betraying their own party.
Can you imagine Harry yelling fire? Please, just shut up and let me burn up in peace!
Note: For a quick starter primer on Harry Reid, watch Casino; Harry Reid was portrayed by two actors in the film: Nevada gaming commissioner “Pat Webb,” who said, “We may have to kick a kike’s ass outta town”, played by L.Q. Jones, and the crooked senator, played by Dickie Smothers.
Accurate portrayals both.
The Fourteenth Amendment, Article 4, of the U.S. Constitution requires, as John Hinderaker correctly pointed out this week, that “The validity of the public debt … including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services … shall not be questioned.” This in fact is a built-in mechanism to keep us from default.
The president decides what bills get paid first, congress merely allocates the funds, but wherever the funds are available he must pay our debts. At a minimum pensions, wages and the interest on the debt (about $20 billion a month) must be paid.
THIS IS CHUMP CHANGE in a $17 trillion economy.
For that to happen, of course, Barrycade Barry will have to prioritize his spending and dig into the half trillion he has lying around. What a novel concept. Only one Democrat president has been forced to do that since way back when LBJ found out he needed Wm. F. Buckley’s dead grandfather’s vote.
Will government workers be furloughed? Yes, and we should throw a parade as they file out with their pink slips. It is sad that they have chosen to be deadbeats but it is not our responsibility to continue to let them pick our pockets either. Will departments, agencies and bureaus be closed? Gawd, I hope so.
As far as the national parks are concerned, we have too damned many as it is. RRG can show you a spot in Death Valley whose only attraction is that it’s where Charlie Manson put a peace sign on a pile of ugly rocks. They expanded it from monument to park status during the Clinton administration.
The first chance Republicans get they should privatize them anyway, and set aside only national monuments to our former leaders and heroes as just what they are—monuments.
Liberals lie. It is intrinsic within their ideology, and they could never gain power without lying. One of RRG’s most unattractive features is the projectional hurling I do when any Republican calls a liberal a “patriotic” American.
Liberalism—and the topic is modern liberalism here—is devoted to the destruction of the Constitution, and any good liberal is privately quite comfortable with that truth.
And they are arrogant enough believe you won’t see them in its text as the bad actors we should watch for and keep our guards up against.
Will a true shutdown hurt us? Oh get some b*lls.
Democrats and RINOs in Congress this week are far more concerned with losing their bloated staffs, than they are defaulting on our debt. The money is available for a month or two, but it will never come to that.
As long as Barack Obama has another green energy swindle to finance.
