Veep: The Sarah Who Could’ve Been

220px-Julia_Louis-Dreyfus_VF_2012_Shankbone_3In the past, whenever Hollywood became frustrated with politics in Washington it made a movie or television program showing how evil Republicans are and how cool Democrats are.

In the 1990s they made The American President and rabid liberal Richard Dreyfuss played the evil Republican. They always found the most liberal actor they could to play the Republican. Someone who’s never actually sat down and spoken with a real a Republican.

In the 2000s they did The West Wing with Martin Sheen showing us what a really successful president should look like. A political giant and family man who doesn’t have a son who bangs crack rocks the size of golf balls and bonks every porn actress who’ll take his money.

But for the last few years Hollywood has been doing something different. They’re portraying the first female vice president as the woman Sarah Palin could have, no, should have been: attractive, erudite, correctly educated, politically savvy… and disgustingly vulgar.

Caution: This Short Video Clip May Be Offensive Unless You Are A Democrat With Small Children:

But, and get this because it’s new and edgy, The Veep never reveals whether its lead character, Vice-president Selina Meyer (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus), is a liberal or conservative.

Get it? We don’t know and they’re not telling.

Robert Charette—Washington Free Beacon:

Thanks to Washington’s current lofty perch in pop culture, I now have friends from outside Washington quizzing me on what type of rub Freddy’s BBQ Joint uses under new management and how the dredging of the Triskelion is going. If you ask me, for as good “Captain America 2” is, and for how god-awful House of Cards has become, the show that best reflects the D.C. and its inanity is Veep.

The HBO comedy is a critical darling, garnering praise and accolades for the incomparable Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Looking to bank on Washington’s most popular politician, Rolling Stone slapped her on their April cover.

The magazine released some preview quotes:

She has had a good rapport with actual veeps.

In addition to meeting Al Gore – “who did win, by the way,” she said, raising a finger – she recently shared a memorable dinner with Joe Biden. “He loves to tell stories, and I’m a good listener,” she said. “I loved that dinner. There was no cynicism, just a very earnest jubilation about being there.”

I can’t wait until JLD breaks bread with VP Cheney, so America can bear witness to her wearing his BAMF ten gallon cowboy hat. For now we’ll just have to settle for her slumming at state dinners with Dad.

Yeah like that’s going to happen.

If you are under 45 you probably don’t know who Julia Louis Dreyfus is. She was on SNL for one season. Just kidding.

Anyway, Julia Louis-Dreyfus is on the cover of Rolling Stone nekked everybody. In case you want to waste $5.00 to see a 53-year-old actress slash trust-fund baby without any clothes on.

Appreciate you keeping me in the loop.

I lived up to my handicap, but did win $15 bucks in a shootout and another 6 bucks for a closest to the pin.
