Full Caf Americano®
President Obama didn’t exactly flame out at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner Saturday night. He went with the You’re-going-to- miss-me-when-I’m-gone theme. And of course most of the American public will… like a case of athlete’s foot.
Maybe he should’ve done a few Benghazi jokes, just to clear the air.
Something like, “Jay Carney couldn’t make it tonight…” (Carney would necessarily have to have missed the dinner for this one to work). “He’s still trying to find the connection to Benghazi in Ben Rhodes’s email.”
Really probably all the President would’ve had to say was the word “Benghazi” and the correspondents would’ve fallen out of their chairs laughing. Yeah, another spontaneous outburst triggered by non-existent protestors.
Or maybe the President could’ve made a passing reference to Watergate. That’s always good for a big MSM laugh. Something like, “Nixon resigned rather than face impeachment for his high crimes and misdemeanors… and he didn’t even get anyone killed!” [Rim-shot].
Followed by, “No, really. Don’t you just hate when a staffer tries to wake you up in the middle of the night with soldiers screaming for support and machineguns going off over his sat phone?”
They would have been at his feet, at his feet, I tell you!
Or maybe a personal shot or two: “George Will is wondering, ‘What did the White House not know and when did they not know it?’ I’ll have to not get back to you on that, Georgie.” [Uproarious laughter]
Oh well. The important thing is Barry got to be the center of attention again, and all but four of you losers got to watch it.
