No word yet as to whether or not Ambassador Kennedy has extended that stupid, irrelevant… er, compassionate, humanitarian progressive olive branch.

Those are the words Robert Oppenheimer, “father of the atomic bomb,” quoted from the ancient Hindu text Bhagavad Gita shortly after he observed the first tests of the weapon he helped create.
69 years ago today, “Little Boy,” as the bomb was code-named, was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The event was marked by some 45,000 people who converged at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park in the pouring rain, The Japan News is reporting. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Hiroshima mayor Kazumi Matsui, and recently-appointed U.S. ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy (see this Inquisitr article), among other dignitaries, were in attendance. Of course, most of the politicians said the kinds of things politicians always say at events of this nature. Japan’s prime minister, a Japanese dignitary Barack Obama has not yet bowed to, made a plea for the worldwide abolishment of nuclear weapons.
But Hiroshima’s mayor was a bit more reserved:
To make sure the tragedies of Hiroshima and Nagasaki never happen a third time, let’s all communicate, think and act together with the [victims of the atomic bombs].”
Sounds like a guy who gets it, eh?
Of course Japan doesn’t really require an apology at all from the United States for dropping the Bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
They have Sony and Mitsubishi.
In fact, the Hiroshima and Nagasaki A-bombs were actually as good for Japan as they were the United States.
Turned Japan from being the ultimate neighborhood bad boy, into a peace-loving U.S. ally and a practitioner of Western-style democracy.
We should do it more often.
Okay, that was uncalled for.
Ain’t gonna study war no more.
