Nurse Kaci Hickox Can Ride Her Bike

kaci_hickoxShe probably doesn’t have Ebola, but whether she does or not, Nurse Kaci Hickox reserves her right to be a sociopathic narcissistic jerk.

FORT KENT, Me. — Less than a day after restricting the movements of a nurse who treated Ebola victims in West Africa, a judge in Maine has lifted the measures, rejecting arguments by the State of Maine that a quarantine was necessary to protect the public.

Within an hour of the decision, state troopers who had been parked outside the nurse’s house for days had left.

The order, signed on Friday by Judge Charles C. LaVerdiere, the chief judge for the Maine District Courts who serves in Kennebec and Somerset counties, said the nurse, Kaci Hickox, “currently does not show symptoms of Ebola and is therefore not infectious.” [more]

What kind of America are we living in?

Kaci’s done her time at Club Ebola.

Have you?

Where do Americans get off thinking they shouldn’t take the same risks West Africans take everyday?

Besides, as we’ve said, Kaci probably isn’t infected.

Good things happen to bad people all the time.

This reminds me of how the generals reacted to Florence Nightingale’s sanitation recommendations during the Crimean War. In both cases, the nurses were right about the science, and the bosses were wrong. Apparently the court in Maine agrees that isolating a healthy person involuntarily does not affect the spread of a disease.

Right, except for the part you left out about Florence Nightingale living in the nineteenth century and this being the twenty-first century and there being ABSOLUTELY no way to tell if someone has Ebola or not for 21-to-45 days. But except for that part you’re absolutely spot on.
