Yes, comedy is hard.
Star power and its accompanying narcissistic behavior by Hollywood elitists aside, we see this universal dumbing down in our media everywhere these days, a melding of pop culture hack reporting and journalism.
I hark back to Barbara Walters’, “If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?” Both Walters and the media have tried to dress up the history on that one, but I saw the interview. She asked the question.
How was Katharine Hepburn supposed to answer a question like that? “I’m an oak, Normaaaaan… I mean Barbaraaaaaa” ?
It wouldn’t be quite as discouraging if this reporter were the exception. He is not.
One can always argue the legitimacy of Kim Kardashian as a topic of discussion, but nowhere has encouragement for this kind of journalism been more evident than with our own president.
Personally, I think asking Kardashian her butt measurement is at least as legitimate as that interview. Just because the woman pulls a million views on YouTube is that a reason for anyone to take her seriously?
I understand Cate Blanchett’s frustration with this shallow-end pop culture drivel disguised as journalism; I just wish she had used a little more class in dumping this moron.
