Why a National Concealed Carry Law is Useless

righttobeararmsIf there is one thing conservatives should respect about the international Left, it is the tenacity with which the hawkers of their agenda persist.

They never give up in their quest to change the public’s thinking on fundamental freedoms, like your right to keep and bear arms.

Witness: Mrs. Sloane, which bombed on its opening day at the box office this week. Now admittedly this antigun “thriller” didn’t cost much ($23 million), but that should be beside the point.

Any moron knew it would lose money before the first storyboards were sketched out. Witness: Runaway Jury, Lord of War, Armor of Light, The Brave One, American Gun, and we could go on.

Antigun films almost never more than break even at the box office, and when one does it is largely because the movie-going public would buy a ticket to see stars like Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, even if they were playing corpses.

Yet Hollywood continues to finance and lose money on antigun movies.

I’m hoping Donald Trump holds to his promise to end the Left’s state-by-state assault on our Second Amendment freedom, and returns gun rights to the American people.

But just as the left-wing Hollywood lobby so often fails to persuade moviegoers, it is unlikely the new president or the GOP majority will be able to cobble together truly meaningful legislation restoring long-eroded gun rights.

To wit:

A well-meaning congressman from North Carolina has prepared a bill to submit to our new Congress the day they are sworn in.

Free Beacon:

North Carolina Republican Rep. Richard Hudson on Monday released the details of the bill he plans to introduce in the next session. The bill would allow anybody with a valid concealed carry permit from the state they live in to carry a gun in any other state.

“Our Second Amendment right doesn’t disappear when we cross state lines, and I plan to introduce legislation in the first days of the 115th Congress to guarantee that,” Hudson told the Daily Caller. “The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 is a common sense bill to provide law-abiding citizens the right to conceal carry and travel freely between states without worrying about conflicting state codes or onerous civil suits.” [read it all]

Assuming the citizen in question can obtain a concealed carry permit in his or her state, to begin with.

What a dummy.

I’m sorry, but what turnip truck did this yokel fall off of before he got to town? I mean you really have to wonder if this guy is serious.

A national concealed carry law will do absolutely nothing to assure our right to keep and bear arms.

In repressive states like California and New York, or municipalities like Los Angeles and Chicago what agency, department or bureau decides who is qualified to own a concealed carry permit?

Just what bureaucratic board will gun owners have to subject themselves to and which political hoops do we jump through to actually realize what the Constitution has promised every American, without reservation, from the very beginning?

Now here is where I lose two-thirds of pro-gun conservatives.

The Constitution of the United States doesn’t say a thing about the registration of firearms; it doesn’t say anything about convicted felons not being allowed to own one; nor does it say a single word about some bureaucrat in a state house or city hall having the authority to do away with two-thirds of what the Constitution emphatically guarantees.

Under gun control, somehow, criminals always seem to have free access to firearms, while you and I are left to the mercy of some left-wing bureaucrat.

The awful truth is that governments, whether controlled by Democrats or Republicans, always want to govern, and it is up to us as the government to remind those we entrust with our affairs, just who is running the show.

America’s gun owners should not be satisfied until Congress gives us an unfettered Constitutional carry law nation wide.

I do believe Donald Trump is serious about reaffirming our right to bear arms.

However, I’m not nearly so certain he, as a lifelong member of the wealthy elite, understands just how deeply that right has been infringed upon.
