Obama Set’s Off Another Gun Rush: NRA Paaaaarrrty Tonight!

Barack Obama has to be the best thing for gun ownership since Samuel Colt invented the Peacemaker. With every tragic mass shooting he wastes no time getting from the green to the teleprompter, and gun sales increase every time he does it.

You have to believe his speech is pre-written with fill-in-the-blanks spaces for time, location, and number of casualties.

Not that anyone would actually want to set through 12 more minutes watching the greatest president in forever exploiting another horrendous mass shooting, but I feel obligated to give Barack a chance to restate his case.

So, here we go again.

Not only has President Obama consistently lied to create gun hysteria that Americans are clearly not buying, but he seemingly does it with no regard for whether anyone knows he’s lying or not. It’s just automatic, like, well, whenever Hillary Clinton opens her mouth.

Let’s dissect a few of Obama’s remarks made immediately after the Roseburg shooting yesterday:

Somehow this has become routine.

Lie Number 1: There is nothing routine about mass shootings. They are rare. In fact, the odds of an American dying from gunshot, much less in a mass shooting, are about 514,000/1. Your are 10-times more likely to be killed just walking across the street.

[T] he majority of Americans understand we should be changing these laws — including the majority of responsible, law-abiding gun owners.

Lie Number 2: Wrong. More Americans back gun rights than stronger gun control. But keep up the publicity, Barack; firearms manufacturers can’t turn out enough guns and ammo to satisfy demand, every time you open your yap.

We know that states with the most gun laws tend to have the fewest gun deaths.

Lie Number 3: We don’t even need a source to point out how laughably transparent this lie is. Just in Chicago last month, Barack Obama’s hometown and home to the strictest gun control laws in the country, 58 people died from gun homicides. And our president didn’t utter a peep. Now, that is “routine.”

We know that other countries, in response to one mass shooting, have been able to craft laws that almost eliminate mass shootings. Friends of ours, allies of ours — Great Britain, Australia, countries like ours. So we know there are ways to prevent it.

Lie Number 4: There are no “countries like ours,” unless, of course, you agree with Barack that the his presidency is a monarchy.

Great Britain and Australia, in their entire modern histories, have never had the right to bear arms built into their constitutions. Several countries have conscription laws, but the United States is the only nation on Earth where the right to bears arms is a constitutional right.

When Americans are killed in mine disasters, we work to make mines safer. When Americans are killed in floods and hurricanes, we make communities safer. When roads are unsafe, we fix them to reduce auto fatalities. We have seatbelt laws because we know it saves lives.

Lie Number 5: Ah, the old Let’s-look-at-a-half-dozen-non-sequiturs strategy. Need the RG even bring up, that more Americans are killed in automobiles (32,719 in 2013), than in gun homicides (11,208 in 2013)? Overall gun deaths are roughly the same as automobile accidents every year. (God, I love Wikipedia)
