DWS Likes to Speak in Talking Points

UPDATE

The light socket frizz may have gone out in the 1980s, but give Debbie Wasserman Schultz a TPM, and the DNC chair is up-to-the-minute haute flak.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D., Fla.) is the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee and a fixture on MSNBC and CNN, where she can be reliably counted upon to scathingly assail the Republican Party on a wide variety of subjects.

As the above video shows, she tends to speak in rehearsed, repeated talking points about a “do-nothing Congress,” “quality, affordable health care,” and finding Republican actions stunning, shocking and offensive.

After that, she’ll utter hollow words about sitting down and working together with people she finds reprehensible.

But it’s generally best for her that she stays on message.

Schultz was recently corrected mid-interview after she falsely claimed that Republican Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval didn’t implement a state health care exchange, and she refused to answer questions about her blocking of bipartisan sanctions against Iran earlier this year.

She also made the truly laughable remark that neither she nor President Obama nor any other Democrats ever uttered any comments that were “not true” about the Affordable Care Act, in the midst of the debunking of Obama’s panned “If you like your plan, you can keep it” promise.

It would be another thing entirely if Wasserman Schultz could hear the laughter going on in living rooms and bedrooms all over America every time she opens her mouth. Then maybe she would get into standup, where she could earn an honest living and run up her own credit card.

Oh well, Mr. Wasserman Schultz is probably happy; DWS doesn’t spend much on her personal appearance (unless the DCCC is springing for the bill), and as long as she blabbing her mouth off over at MSNBC she can’t shop.

Okay, that was uncalled for.

Those kinds of jokes are never appropriate.
