Why is “Islamic extremism” so hard to say?

It’s not so much Islamic extremism that concerns the Obama administration. It’s that there are just so many danged global extremists to choose from. It’s like eeny, meeny, miny, moe, you know?

The video is a little long, but at about 1:45 you can pick up on State Department spokesperson Marie Harf’s comments on the Obama administration’s hectoring battle with worldwide extremism … of all stripes.

Martha MacCallum:

Martha MacCallum tonight took on State Department Deputy Spokesperson Marie Harf over the administration’s avoidance of the term “Islamic extremism.”

MacCallum asked her: Why is it so hard to say?

“It’s not hard to say, but it’s not the only kind of extremist we face,” Harf said.

MacCallum fired back, asking what other forms of extremism “are particularly troubling” to the State Department. Harf told MacCallum that the State Department is “of course” most focused on extremism in the name of Islam.

“It’s not hard to say, but it’s not the only kind of extremist we face…”?

Right, Marie, those Danish Lutherans are particularly scary.

The insult here isn’t so much that the administration has a clear record of lying about, well, everything, when it is easier to tell the truth. It’s that they send out imbeciles like Harf to do it.

Just keep blathering, Marie; sooner or later something intelligent is bound to come out.
